EARLY ITALIAN-JEWISH SPIRITUAL MUSIC
ONE OF THE TOP ALBUMS OF 2020" - AMERICAN RECORD GUIDE
ABOUT:
Specializing in early Jewish music in dialogue with the non-jewish world, Ensemble Bet Hagat is an international multicultural ensemble based in Jerusalem.
Continuing the groundbreaking path of it's acclaimed debut album "Illumination", Ensemble Bet Hagat delves further into previously unknown examples of profound Italian Jewish spiritual music ('piyyut') from the ghettos of Mantova, Venezia, Firenze, Roma, and other communities, including rarely heard Hebrew language works by Rossi and Marcello.
The project reflects the timeless power of this nearly vanished music- then, as now- to inspire hope, catharsis, acceptance and joy, transcending the walls of the ghettos of Italy and resonating powerfully in our tumultuous 21st century world.
A modular ensemble of international specialists in performance of Jewish music, with world renowned traditional singers (David Lavi, Yonatan Razel, Yair Harel); performed on period instruments
